More good bones

Another home with fantastic Mid-Century bones is 8 Bayonne Close Greensborough (Barry Plant). With North facing internal living spaces. pool and yard, passive solar design has certainly been taken into account in the houses design. The formal lounge has the quintessential brick hearth with gas log wood fire and vaulted timber ceilings, the original kitchen (although now a little 'Kath & Kim' tizzy) flows on to the meals and family room and also a balcony & pool. There is also a rather cozy den.

Making Hedlines

With huge potential to enhance the mid-century character of this solid house, 11 Hedline Place Macleod (Buckingham & Co) is certainly newsworthy. It features 70's style split level layout, open fireplace, original kitchen, solid timber roof beams and polished floorboards but it has been kept current with access from the living spaces to the new deck via large timber framed doors. And, its as neat as a pin!

Dood, where's my house..?

With North facing views and a pool out the back, its hard to go past this fabulous brick mid-century home at 9 Doodson Court, Eltham (Barry Plant). The RE description lists Daniel Robertson bricks, limed stained timber work, picture windows looking out to native gardens and the treed valley panorama, timber kitchen, split level spacious living area, and balcony across the front as the prime features of this property. Fantastic.
A new timber garage door could make a huge difference to the fantastically proportioned front elevation.

Briar Hill Blues

Not many properties from the leafy borough of Briar Hill seem to make the Banyule Modern Blog. This 50's cottage at 15 Greenwood Street, Briar Hill (Darren Jones RE) seems to be in completely original condition! A little too original for most tastes but what a time capsule! I've included so many photos because, lets face it, on over 2000m2 of land, this humble houses' days are numbered...

Worthy of a Masterchef?
Got the blues? Try some timber paneling..
Still got the blues? Better have a sit down then..

Try eating something, and if that doesn't work...

Have a lie down - try to sleep it off.
