M, maybe not

M and I went to the open of 174 Hawdon Street Heidelberg over the looong weekend. We were seduced by the optimism of the 50's Modernist facade but were quickly disappointed once inside. Those bricks don't even go "all the way up". Can't judge a book by its cover eh?

Jelbart Jubilee

Okay, just use your imagination here - remove the puffy velour sofas and frilly bed valances and mentally strip this home back to its bones. 9 Jelbart Court Eltham has some features worth exploring. For instance; the high timber lined ceilings with exposed beams, floor to ceiling windows (new blinds), exposed brick internal walls including possible original wood burning fire, north facing living spaces and extensive garden.

Livingston 70's

Not for the feint hearted the ad says, brilliant potential I say!

On a Stamford High...

I know I seem to have blogged about a lot of houses in Eltham but lets face it, they've got the goods! Here is another beauty - 12 Samford Court, Eltham - listed by Barry Plant. Classic 60's/70's timber lining boards, exposed beams, slate floors and bagged brick walls.

Blast from the Past

Can you believe this?!
The house in Seaholme (Altona) that kick started my 70's obsession was sold last year IN ORIGINAL CONDITION!! This is the house owned by my parents friends that I referred to in the post 'That 70's House'.

Landscaped Pool Area
View looking towards the foyer complete with stone waterfall wall with fishpond (yes, goldfish), looking across to the 'Boom Boom' room.
'Boom Boom' room complete with artifacts from New Guinea, built in fish tank and built in terrazzo table.
Original - yes Original - Kitchen. Mosaic tiled benchtops & splashback. Unfortunately out of shot is the built in booth or 'dinette'.

Master bedroom - Haven't even changed as much as the bedspread!
